Shuttering the Still

Whisky Business Mystery Series.

Whisky Business Mysteries are a 6-part cozy mystery series set in the village of Balfour, Scotland. The protagonist Abigail Logan inherits a boutique distillery in rural Scotland and quickly discovers that she’s now part of a high-stakes business – more art than science – that elicits deep passions and prejudices. When one of Abi’s employees is found murdered and floating face down in a vat of the distillery’s finest, Abi vows to find out why. But distilling truth from lies can be tricky especially when everyone around you seems to have something to hide. Murder aside, Balfour is an insanely picturesque place. A clear, fast-moving river winds its way through the heart of the town separating the main street shops and businesses from the houses, with their neat front lawns and riotous floral displays. On the residential side, the riverbank is wide and flat and covered with a fine soft grass manicured to make room for several benches and a children’s playground complete with a wooden fort, swings, and a roundabout. On the opposite bank, a pub named the Golden Stag boasts an idyllic view across the water from a stone terrace framed by a walled garden. Heavenly on a summer evening. Across the village green from the pub lies St. Jude’s, the graceful old Norman church watches over the village. A little slice of heaven. Tonight’s story is called Shuttering the Still a quiet look at Abi’s nighttime rituals.
